Founded 40 years ago by Gillian Harwood and her late partner and architect, Philip Lancashire. They rescued this robust Victorian bus factory and timber yard, converting it with flair and imagination. The first part of the restoration, known as Omnibus, became a resounding success and, in 1985, Philip and Gillian were asked by Islington Council and the City of London if they would consider taking over more of the old factory. A brave move in those days, but one they never regretted and which awarded Gillian, Business Woman of the Year – an accolade presented to her by the late Margaret Thatcher.
